Today I was walking through campus on my way back from an Italy meeting, and I passed by a girl walking with her head hung, staring at the ground. But she wasn't sad, she was smiling to herself. I think that's one of my favorite things - catching people smiling to themselves. I don't know why, but it just makes me happy, too. I just always end up smiling whenever I see someone doing that. I guess part of me wonders what they're thinking to make them smile or smirk or what not for that moment. I know I've done it before myself, and not to be lame, but it's a sweet feeling. I don't know. I just wanted to write that down, because, in a way, it made my day.
Anyhoo, I guess I could talk about that whole school thing. In studio, our first project is to design a playhouse. The real kicker is that a handful of these playhouses will actually be constructed and sent down for the children of Biloxi, Mississippi, who are still recovering from hurricane Katrina. I thought that's really fucking cool. Once the projects are completed, we'll be having a showing in the student center on Sept. 29th. Then, from my understanding, a panel of judges will decide which designs will be used for construction. Construction should begin sometime in December. Honestly, I'm not feeling confident enough in my own design to get chosen, but still, it's a really exciting opportunity for my whole class! I don't want to be that typical vain designer who's in it all for themself, when it's really all about the cause. I'm really interested to see what happens!
I recently purchased Darkwing Duck - the animated series on DVD at Best Buy. That cartoon was so fucking cool. Talespin, which also recently came out on DVD, will have to be saved for my birthday list!
Kent is super sweet, and my roomies are super fun! For serious.
That's all that's really going on in my neck of the woods. Until next time...
Big Hugs & Sloppy Snogs,
