But I seem to remember that you're Chinese! :DDD Is Malaysian-Chinese and Filipino-Chinese within the same dialect? :) My pinyin sucks.. but wo ai lu! :)

Yup, you got it right. It can also be Selamat Hari Lahir. Lahir means born/birth and Jadi literally mean made or created.
But both are correct. Most people use Jadi :D

Does selamat hari lahir mean "thanks for being born"? :D

Ahh..souka.

Selamat in Malay literally means safe, but Selamat Hari Lahir doesn't mean Safe Birthday, or Have a safe birthday or something like that.
It's more like Happy birthday :DD
