Everyone in the high school should be instructed to take environmental science!
This book is out of date...so these figures are a bit off..but did you know that:
- 27,400 people (half being under the age of 5) die per day due to malnutrition
- 49,300 premature deaths per day
- little of Brazil's Atlantic fores remains
- all virgin forests will be gone by 2010
- 40% of North America's range and cropland has lost productivity
- every year, 14,000 square kilometers of rain forest is destroyed in the Amazon
Basin
- there are thousands upon thousands of endangered species
- many coral reefs have been destroyed or are threatened
- and much much much much much more.........
I KNEW OUR ENVIRONMENT WAS MESSED UP...BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE THE EXTENT. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE! I WISH I COULD DO SOMETHING RIGHT NOW TO HELP OUT!...BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT BESIDES FOR BECOMING MORE INFORMED.
