Books are like soap operas, they have drama and plots. It doesn't matter during what time period period it's taking place. Whether it's in the middle ages with dragons and the knights in shining armor, or the Roaring Twenties with Jazz and World War One. Speaking of the twenties, there's a book that has some good examples, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, that has the essance and the symbol of Romance, love.
