an interesting day yesterday, get to see jen-e-pen-e and shane...we went to see "keeping up with the steins" (a hilarious jew movie) at the neshaminy and then walked around a bit before goin home
and this is where the fun starts:
jen gets to the red light of the red lion intersection on the southbound left lane of the outer lane of the boulevard, she waits for all turning cars to stop before pressing the gas pedal in response to her green light and the cars to her right accelerating forward. but just as she reaches the middle of the intersection she has to slam on her brakes since another driver thought they could make the turn on a yellow or red light...they smashed straight into jen's car
immediately the male passenger started throwing his arms around screaming and cursing, and the middle aged female driver whose eyes were bloodshot red with a vacant expression, didn't look like she should be driving. jen bumped her head but shane and i were alright so i called 911. two firetrucks and an ambulance showed up about ten or fifteen minutes later asking if everyone was alright. jen wanted to go to the hospital just to get checked out in case something severe happened to her head, and took all her information with her though left her car keys with me and shane
but wait there's more...a single cop shows up, walks around looking at the cars before the firedudes drive the cars to the nearby shell gas station, out of the way of traffic. by then the cop has only talked with the other driver but mainly with her male passenger, asking me and shane only if jen took her license/registration/id etc. with her to the hospital (to which we said yes). the cop didn't once ask us for our statement. the rest of the time i could only hear the male passanger talking with the cop saying that his driver had the right of way. but when the cop asked this man for his information, i found out that this 35 year old white man didn't have a driver's license or even an ID. me and shane are standing right next to the police vehicle and the cop doesn't even glance our way before driving off to the hospital
shane and i (who can't drive) were left with our cell phones and jens car in the middle of a gas station and absolutely no tow truck or anything. shane's sister ariel had come to get us but we figured we'd try to find out wat hospital jen went to so we could see wat she wanted us to do with her car. we drove it to the nearby taco bell/pizza hut parking lot and headed over to the frankford hospital to see how jen was doing
after informing jen of the cops questionable conduct at the scene of the accident, she told us that he showed up at the hospital to give her a ticket. he asked her wat happened and when she told him that the other driver blew the light, he said that it wasn't wat he believed and "not wat your friends (me and shane) said"...this completely baffled me and shane seeing as we never got a chance to talk with the officer and were under the impression that it would be a dereliction of duty if he did not come to us for a witness statement. jen told us she refused to sign the ticket and that the cop had an attitude the entire time, telling her that he had lots of paperwork to do now because of this accident. jen was to the point of crying by the time the officer had left the hospital
so...how was everyone else's day?
