Yet another request for hairstyle help

Simply put, I am tired of my hair, and would love to try a short style. I do have a few misgivings, however: when I was younger, I had short hair, but it was also extremely poofy. Nevertheless, I feel that with a great style and judicious use of hair products, I could perhaps pull off a short 'do

i like the poofier look of the second picture. with a short cut, i think you could totally rock a semi 'fro!
