It's funny, reading all of these posts I realized how many people had to learn how to embrace their natural curls... I mean, I know I did.
I straightened the hell out of it through high school:
Age fifteen:
Age seventeen:
But I also tried to pretend that I didn't wear glasses or something. .-.
I really do feel like a completely different person!
Age seventeen, starting to accept the curls:
Age seventeen, starting to accept the GLASSES:
At that point my hair was fried from all the straightening and stuff...
Age seventeen, again:
Age eighteen, digging the gray and curls and glasses:
To pretty much now. This is me in the morning:
I recently got my hair cut in a "curly" style, too... I mean, I know in my curly-haired pictures I actually look like I have WAVY hair but really, I have ringlets. Yeah. And I am flaunting them everywhere now.
A while ago I was in a Denny's with my ex-boyfriend, eating, laughing, having a good time... I always, always, ALWAYS straightened my hair because I thought I looked gross when I didn't. The stop at Denz had been a spontaneous one, me and my boyfriend were on our way home from the beach and wanted to stop by to say hello to our best friend/regular server, Beck, and also wanted a quick bite to eat. I know how silly I look when I let my hair dry after a day at the beach, but, really? What else was I to do? So I'm minding my own business, eating, and this lady comes up and grabs a strand of my hair and tells me that I'm in desperate need of a makeover. She said it in this mean, nasty way and then walked off laughing.
I cried.
Curly hair is pretty. It took me so long to realize that and I think we all have our bad days but I'm glad that we've all learned to love our curls instead of hating them, and you know what? Screw society and screw what everyone else says. D:<
Post pictures of your hair before curly? And after? I want to see the transformation! (:
