ok, so i added this group a long time ago and never really used it, but i just remembered about it and am here for some advice!
first, a story, and then some pics to show you my hair.
recently, i was at my parents house having dinner, and my mom was commenting about my brothers hair (which is curly) and how he needed to see someone who specialized in cutting curly hair. i mentioned that the one and only time i went to a curly-hair specialist, my hair got totally botched, and my mom told me that i dont have curly hair!!!! when i was born, i had curls, and after my first haircut, i grew straight hair for several years, and then around 12, my hair started to wave again (see pics), and has become what i would call wavy-curly. my mom thinks that because i put product in my hair when its wet to get the curls to be nicer, that means my curls arent natural.
opinions, everyone? does using a product to curl your hair make you not a naturally curly girl (and therefore i should get rid of this icon)? do i, or do i not have curly hair to you?
me at age 12, at summer camp -- aka before i knew about products, hair air dried in the summer heat
a terrrible picture of me that was my student ID picture in college

so my second question is about products. i have used several brands and types, and just cant seem to find things that make my hair soft and curly without frizz. all of the anti-frizz products like the clear serums (eg frizz-ease) make my hair look unwashed and greasy, even when used super sparingly (i usually use this product for the "fly-aways" that are around my temples, and it results in a greasy look). for a while, i primarily used spray gels or other types of sprays, but i found that those didnt make the curls as defined, so i switched over to creams. i found a great anti-poof cream from sunsilk, which seemed to work well on my hair, but they discontinued it. i have recently been using a fructise milk, which is OK. i have also tried potion 9 (eh), matrix (decent), and many other brands.
what is a good brand/product to help my hair be less frizzy, more defined, and not sticky/greasy looking?? i have very thin hair, if that effects which product you recommend.
last question is about style. i have been growing my hair out, but have been contemplating bangs for quite some time. i had straight across bangs when i was little with straighter hair, but i want some stylish long bangs. can this be achieved well with curly hair? does anyone have them and can post pictures? or any images of someone else?
thanks everyone!!!!
