Tying back curls

May 31, 2007 12:19

I have just begun to embrace my curly hair after 23 years of fighting against it :) So far I've been using the Curly Girl routine, which has really decreased the SIZE of my hair and has made the curls more defined. Now I love wearing my hair curly and am reluctant to let my former best friend the Flat Iron touch it or to tie it back like I used to on a daily basis.

However, it's not practical to wear my hair down everyday (e.g. I work with food and can't have people finding my hair in their sandwiches...), so I do need a solution to tie it up nicely. The thing is, the curls at the front of my face are kind of lame/kinky/stringy (after years of daily straightening), so when I tie back the rest of my hair, those are all you can see and it's not very flattering. Because of this, I resort to straightening them and the vicious circle continues...

So basically I'm wondering if any of you have any ideas for curl-friendly ways to put hair back that are also flattering? Just to add as well, that when I tie my curls back in a ponytail, the hair in the ponytail is not curly, it's stringy, so it looks silly.

Thanks a lot girls :)
