i was thinking about something totally random today...why is it that we all feel that we need to conform to whats going on...why must we have to fit in to feel content with ourselves on a personal level...im not saying im not just like that...maybe its the feeling of being wanted...and the appraisal you recieve for being just like everyone else...but if you look at the people who made history...they werent just like everyone else...they were extremists and stood for what they believed in...whether that meant that they stood out in society or not...and of course now they get all of the praise...but its too late now...they are dead and gone...and never had the oppurtunity to recieve that approval...i think thats why we still do it..instead of standing out, because nothing positive has ever come out of doing such a thing while you were still alive, it discourages people...we americans are in it for the short term...what can you give me now that will make me feel better..if its not now i dont want it type thing...we americans are very materalistic...=> we derive all of our cultures from other cultures...while many things may spring from doing so, like broadway plays and jazz, we still are influenced by another country and always have been...during the colonial period the country wanted so badly to be recognized by britian...many of the first settlers were british, and brought that culture with them...of course if the indians werent stamped out like they were, of course the culture would favor more towards the indian way of life, rather than the british...random thoughts i know...but whatever...no one cares anyway
