My Subway Story...

Jan 26, 2007 17:31

Every day I take the 5 train to the 2 and transfer at the same stop. Usually everything goes fine...but not on Monday.

I get off the 5 and go to my usual spot on the platform. I always go to the front against the wall, so I can lean there away from the wind before boarding the first car. On this particularly brisk Monday morn, some crazy lady gets off behind me and tries to rush ahead to my spot. I'm like 3 feet ahead of her, mind you, and without even rushing, I get to the spot first. Then she proceeds to hover over me, even though there is plenty of room. It's both annoying and creepy. This is how the rest went down:

Crazy Lady: "Hey, I was going to stand there!"
(Meanwhile, the platform is nearly empty, there is plenty of room)

Me: "Well...sorry..." (I shrug, but I don't move)

Crazy Lady again: "That is MY spot!"

Me: "Funny...I don't see your name here anywhere..." (and I proceed to pretend to look around for her name)

Crazy Lady: "Well, I don't see YOUR name here anywhere either!"

So....I took out my chalk... and wrote my name on the floor...and stood on it.

Me: "Well...guess that solves that, doesn't it?"

She cocked her head back and forth a few times, stuttered, and stormed off, sucking her teeth. And I proudly stood in my spot. It helps that, as I teacher, I have chalk on me at all times :-D

That crazy bitch met her match.
