John Paul II's passing
So sad that the pope died. He seemed like a good, if misguided, fellow. He stood by his guns on all the issues he felt strongly about. But he ministered to the masses, and was concerned about human rights.
A dear friend of mine is devoutly Catholic, but her marriage was making her life and those of her kids a living hell. She got a divorce, and continues to do 4 hours a week of volunteer service to the church. And with all that, she's not permitted to take communion. She feels betrayed.
And don't get me started on gays, women, and celibacy. But it's not my club, so they can conduct their business without my approval :)
