The owl is actually carved wood - but well weathered over the past few years. He was a gift from my sister.

By the way - I really liked the steampunk hat you were wearing in your picture the other day. I wombled off on a search to find a picture of me in mine and forgot to go back and say so!

So - for fun, there are a couple of pictures of me in this post. But my hat looks even better in this picture of my, then 8 yr old granddaughter, who decided it looked better the other way around...

Ah ok! Wood is even better. Well-loved by the elements, then :)

Oh my gosh!! That's such a similar hat!! Everyone's hats are fantastic actually.

And indeed, your granddaughter does seem to have it on backwards.
BUT I am a huge advocate of wearing hats however you like them.

At the hat shop folks are always worriedly asking, "Does the bow go in the front, or back?" and "Is it supposed to go THIS way?"

It's true that hats are "supposed" to be worn in certain ways...but we wouldn't have such a wonderful variety of headwear, if people weren't creatively putting all sorts of things on their heads that don't technically belong there :p And you never know whether a backwards hat will suit you better than a forwards one, unless you try it!

Absolutely! I must show her that picture as she has probably forgotten it.
