Something that made me happy - and something to make your brain hurt...

On Monday I watched highlights of the San Marino Moto GP on TV (Like F1 for motorbikes). And I was inordinately pleased to discover that it is held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

This will probably mean nothing to everyone, or almost everyone, on my FList. But when I messaged D-d and told her she replied immediately, as touched by this as I am.

You see, both of us were just a little bit in love with Marco Simoncelli. And this is my post on the day he was killed in an accident. Even now, when I go back and read that post, I get a real lump in my throat - such a lovely young man. But how wonderful that they have named this major circuit after him. I am sure his Momma must be proud.

Now for something completely different!

In the car I listen to one of our local radio stations. Yesterday, as I drove home from doing the shopping, the subject of the possible first commercial manned moon flight came up. And I genuinely heard the DJ say 'Isn't it odd how Louis Armstrong is the only man to ever walk on the moon? I can't help wondering what he saw that meant nobody has ever been there since him.'

I will leave you a minute to unpack that...

Then someone in the studio must have passed her a note because she laughed, then said

"Oh, no - that's wrong isn't it! Wasn't he a musician or something? Neil Armstrong. I mean Neil Armstrong. Isn't it odd that Neil Armstrong is the only man to ever walk on the moon? I really wish he would tell us what he saw that means nobody has ever been there since him.'

I resisted the urge to stop the car and google the names of the other 11 people and send them to her.

simoncelli, good grief!, funny
