Well, yes, there's potential for that; the issue is raised every year with regard to those living in group homes/assisted living facilities, so much so that there's a section on the state government's webpage about how to facilitate it while preserving the right to a private vote.

Here one signs the back of the envelope before posting it or taking it to a secure ballot dropbox; the codes on the ballot and the envelope are checked against one another and what was assigned to this particular voter, and the signature is compared to those from the previous five elections. There are provisions for those whose signatures have changed due to age or illness. I've been challenged twice over mine, and it was easy enough to sort.

Most people locally have the attitude that if it's safe enough to post the ID they'd be asked for if they went to a physical voting centre - we do still have them, but it's the same paper ballot you'd get in the post unless you need an accessible adaptation, such as a touchscreen or a sip-and-puff tool - it's okay to send the ballot back that way.

Yes - we would probably have very little complaints if we were all-postal.

But can you imagine the reaction of all the Trumpist Republicans in the US? Although perhaps they would be so apoplectic that their numbers might seriously reduce :P
