What kind of Grand Prix? To me that is a horse show jumping competition with big fences and big prizes.
If I was in your situation I'd find a wireless mouse and keyboard combo on Amazon and buy it. I do that for my work laptop because it's too small to type on and I refuse to use a touchpad. I'm a snob. Or you could just skip the letters that don't work and see if we can still figure out what you're trying to say.
We have spare wireless keyboards and my mouse I use with this is already wireless. But I usually type with the laptop literally on my lap, so using the wireless keyboard is not ideal, and this is on its second keyboard already.
The green line across the screen is also a bit worrying, and it is too old to work properly with the new printer - despite asking it to download new drivers it still insists, in all and every possible programme, that it can only print onto A4 - which is a problem as there are things I do regularly on A5.
So, long term, I fear this one will eventually become a liability, which is why I bought the Acer last year being, I thought, very sensible...
Sorry the laptop is still refusing to behave itself despite S2C's blandishments. Having to copy and paste "x" and "z" sounds very tedious but "o" does seem more of a problem.
Actual money! What is this thing! I haven't used any for weeks and when I had to go and get some the other day had to pause to think which way the card went in!
I just have to remember to either hit the o a bit more firmly than usual, or to check back to make sure I haven't missed any. But it still a bit of a warning that it is likely to eventually give up the ghost, I fear.
My luxury (ha! Spellcheck was able to work that one out!) when I was working was Jackie, who came in and cleaned for us for 3 hours a week. When I retired I did think of giving her up - but I don't get a lot of pleasure from cleaning and she was actually worried that I might not need her. So she is still my luxury item until such time as she retires herself!
We managed perfectly well without her during our lockdown, to be honest, but in the grand scheme of things it suits both of us for her to still come and clean for 3 hours while I go and volunteer in the Churches' Bookshop! But Jackie works in the cash economy...
Sadly, all the keys g down perfectly well, after a good clean of the keyboard to make sure - but the two to the left of the c simply don't register. I guess the connection is broken somewhere.
A few years ago this is the laptop that 'lost' almost the whole right side of the keyboard in the same way - so this is its second keyboard. I don't seem to have had the same effect on others so I guess it is its weak spot!
Today's Grand Prix was not as interesting as last week's - which was interesting in the 'living in interesting times' way :)
I tell my cleaning lady that she is my luxury :)
I think you are right about a new laptop. To be honest I hate the setting up when I get a new one, but at least most things are on my cloud storage so that is a blessing.
I can plug in an external keyboard - but I tend to use the laptop with it on my knee, sitting on the sofa, so life would need to be reorganised quite a bit :)

Manolo loves car racing...well, watching it.
I see you need to pay your cleaning lady. I'm glad you kept her after the lockdown ended. So many people are having such a hard time now economically.
I suspect a nice new laptop may be in store for you...which is sad as the newer one that doesn't charge is not that old.
