Curtains - and other stuff.
I took the big curtains from the front window to the dry cleaners on Thursday. I went to pick them up this morning only to realise they are working short hours and I was almost an hour too early. As I had pole position for parking I sat in the car and read.
But the lady in the shop was commenting that they are on short time because they have very little dry cleaning or laundry to do for hotels and self-catering lets, of course, and no suits to clean for the neighbouring formal male outfit hire shop, as there have been almost no weddings, no proms, no formal dinners...
She said that another regular source of dry cleaning is the suits from all the people who work in the financial and legal sectors - many of whose offices are within ten minutes walk. Most of them have been working from home and not wearing suits, and even now, as they go back to their offices, many firms have decided easier washed clothes might be sensible and they are only wearing suits for particular formal meetings.
I was glad we had decided the curtains need doing.
Taking down the curtains was a very major job for S2C - I will put all the hooks on and putting them back up will be the task for tomorrow. We have vertical blinds on the window as well, so have just done without the curtains for a few days.
I took the spare curtains from the old house (which had somehow moved house with us!) to the Hospice Warehouse after that as they don't actually fit any of the windows here.
We are still recording short services at church on Saturdays, and I now have Sunday School prep to do... the day has gone pretty quickly!
It is grey and wet again this evening - and is going to get very windy again overnight; it really doesn't feel much like summer.
My picture is of the bean plants which are growing nicely, and some of the lavender. I planted the lavender around the outside of the vegetable bed so that it would attract the pollinators which would then, hopefully, also visit the small vegetable flowers. I think it is sort or working.
