Time for a look back at the past week, in pictures.
On Monday it was blustery - just building itself up to the storm on Tuesday. I've forgotten which storm that was... the end of Jonas perhaps. I was in Laxey - I stopped for lunch at the Craftea Weavers - they have been affected by the collapsed bridge from a storm before Christmas, and the woollen mill part of the building has been flooded, so I think it is good to give them custom!
As you can see, even before that storm hit, the river outside was in full spate.
For the rest of the week
We were a day late celebrating Burns' Night at home as I had left overs for us on Monday, so we only got around to Burns' dinner on Tuesday. Sadly there was no formal Burns' Supper this year. But this was our haggis with neeps and tatties.
Wednesday's picture is for
ysilme to show Siljan - it is the plant I posted a picture of a week or two ago showing, better, the leaves which are about 15-20cm across, and the way the flowers grow on their stalk.
I spent Thursday helping in the bookshop - and as it was damp outside I took another picture inside - these wee notebooks are really pretty, I think.
On Friday the sun shone! This was so surprising that I took advantage and went to Tescos to do a trolley shop. And took this picture in the carpark, knowingly into the sun because... sun!
Actually it stayed fine on Saturday morning, too. I set off to Castletown looking for something specific. I didn't find it, but as I had taken the camera the trip wasn't completely pointless. You can see the castle - surrounded by its town :)
In Sunday School yesterday we were listening to different sorts of praise songs and making a joyful noise... it was fun.
But what struck me when I came out and looked at the school across the road from our church was something I don't think I have seen since October -
Can you see what I mean? That is a totally still flag - there was no wind!!
Didn't last, though. The wind got up again overnight and it's blowing a hoolie again.
Actually it has been so windy during the last 24 hours that it has actually
blown over the Loughtan Ram sculpture up the mountain. (
this is what it looked like when I took a picture some time ago - remember that is a 4ft high wheelie bin in the foreground!)
This evening I have made a big curry, and we are expecting D-d round for dinner - so I'll just hit 'post'!
