Busy, busy, busy - and also Caitlyn...

I am currently spending each day baking, shopping, going to church for 5pm to cut and wrap cake, set up, and then serve hot drinks and snacks until about 9.00pm, clear up, come home by about 9.45, eat dinner watch the Pointless S2C recorded earlier with him, and then going to bed - rinse and repeat!

So far I have personally made 161 portions of cake, having done another 38 portions today ready to take down tonight. I am one on a total of about 8 bakers - although I am probably doing a bit more than some of the others, but even so it means we have probably sold at least 600 portions of cake so far and it is still only Practice week!

And this afternoon I think S2C and I are going to have to tackle putting together a flat-pack trolley my mum bought herself but couldn't cope with making. There are at least 12 bits of wood, lots of screws and the castors. It was made in China. I'm guessing the holes won't line up properly... but we will give it a shot.

Complete change of subject. There has been a lot of publicity cropping up regularly on my Facebook feed for Caitlyn Jenner and her cover picture on Vanity Fair. Personally I think it is a shame that it looks to be very heavily airbrushed, but that is about my only thought as Bruce Jenner was not an athlete I knew much about, as he was an American not a European.

However I am finding the whole thing most confusing, and even more amusing, because in amongst the links to that story, which turn up unasked for on facebook, there are a lot of other posts about a sadly abused dog in the US also called Caitlyn; and the headlines on each post say nothing to differentiate. So one might be 'Caitlyn applauded for her bravery' - is this the woman, or the dog? Apparently the woman, for posing for the cover, not the dog for surviving horrible injuries. Although I think the dog is perhaps more deserving of the epithet. Both are the subject of basically random stories, from my point of view, that Facebook thinks I might be interested in. But the proximity does amuse me.

tt, church, facebook, weird stuff
