Got my system hooked up. Krao said my trunk was going to explode. I'm very happy with it. ^^ Still need my front speakers put in to replace the old ones. Hopefully that'll happen soon ( Read more... )

I jsut wanted to say, I saw that comming, (equestrian) but thought if I didn't say anything (this morning) everyone would leave it alone.
I've been E-yelled at for riding my 2, now 3 yr old perch under saddle, no helmet, more times than I care to count!

I mean, it isn't like I'm trying to get him to canter already, or riding him everyday. Nor am I that heavy. I'm just trying to get him to be able to manage at least a little something before I sell him.

I've never worn a helmet when I've broken a horse, and I've broken a few. The worst thing I've ever done is sprained my ankle, and that only kept me away for 3 weeks. I went to the FAIR and showed 3 weeks after I sprained it. I couldn't even get up on the horse because it was still messed up, I had to get a leg up.

Delight, my dad's horse, has taken off rodeo bucking with me hanging off the side of her behind the saddle hanging onto the horn and keeping my leg wrapped around the cantle as hard as I could. Wasn't wearing a helmet, and I clung to that samn horse until I found a soft spot in the arena and I let go ( ... )

THe problem is, so many of those riders in those communites are english, and it's "HELMET OR DIE!!!!"
- there was even a "Free lungeing will get you killed!!!!" debate, a while back, haha.
Yeah...my falling off stories are more funny than anything, that said, I've not hurt my head, yet.
helmets won't stop broken legs, sprained ankles, etc.
this is why I started my own comm, haha.

I've noticed that before. Lmao. It'll get you killed if you don't know what you are doing and you let the horse get away with whatever it wants. I've never had a problem with it.

The horse that I sprained my ankle with was actually a somewhat (NOT) broke horse (meaning, the people said they had ridden him before, but it was hell just to catch him, and to also just put the saddle on him), he obviously didn't want me getting on his back.

I've been riding since I was 11/12 and now I'm 17, about to turn 18. I've been bucked off more times than I can count, fallen on (all that did was give me whiplash in my neck), kicked, lots of stuff, and none of those times was I wearing a helmet.

And I assume they don't say anything about the trainers not wearing helmets since they are trainers. But really, if they want to go that route, I'm a trainer myself. I may not be a pro, but I do get payed for training other people's horses.

yeah, well, I got tired of the anti no helmet, anti free lunging, anti no boots types, compounded with I heard the phrase "backyard owners" used deragatorily, more times then I cared to count.
so I started 'backyardhorse' :)
ppl are so afflicted!

No boots as in, no tall/paddock boots, or no boots at all? My form of boots are hiking boots. They would probably freak out if they knew exactly what they were. "You'll never get your foot out of the stirrup!"

I'd join, but I wasn't planning on making many more, if any, posts in there or any horse community. I really just wanted to find out about the pricing of the saddle package and get a suggestion for a price for the slinky. Needless to say, no one said if the price was reasonable (I think it's a good deal with all they are getting), or gave me any idea at what I should price the slinky. I was a little perterbed by that.

Well, I have to admit, I wear cowboy boots, all the time -I do own one pair of hiking boots, and I do ride in them on occasion.....the way I figure it is, for those of us working with drafts, or otherwise, a boot is not going to make much difference. MAy as well be barefoot.
