Didn't sleep much all nite, too much pain and back spasms every time I tried to change positions. Took me 10 minutes to get up this morning.
I saw my chiro on Monday and he treated me, said I have most likely torn some connective tissue and perhaps some muscle on one of those big muscles that runs up my back on the right. After the treatment it felt much better yesterday, but today it's waaaaayyyy worse.
Ordinarily I would prolly not be freaking out, but I have to be functional by Friday morning. I can't show up at Paradise Ranch and not be mobile.
I'm sitting here with my heating pad right now, and things seem to be loosening up. Maybe it's just worse at nite. Yesterday I wore one of those heat patches all day, and that seemed to help.
Any suggestions, anyone? Bwen? Shayne? You're the closest thing I have to medical advisors, lol. Stretches? I have vicodin for when I'm home, but I can't drive anywhere while I'm taking it.
Maybe I should see a doctor today and get me some muscle relaxants?
This has never happened to me before, so I don't know for sure, but it sure seems to be a muscle spasm. When it feels like someone has reached inside your skeletal system, grabbed a handful of muscle and attempted to pull them out of your body while simultaneously twisting them, is that a muscle spasm?
Update. Ok, I just got up to make a second cup of coffee, and it has definitely eased up a bit. I think the heat is helping.
Yikes. No more backward crescent kicks for me. And in case you're wondering, yes, I called Sensei last nite and told him I'm taking the week off, and why.
:-(
Good thoughts, prayers, reiki are appreciated.
Update several hours later:
Ok, I'm at work. Had some coffee, had some Advil, got a friend at work to put a heat patch on me, feeling pretty decent. No more spasms. Plus I got online and looked up the fucking things, since I had never had one before, and I found out that they are not that serious, even tho they are really scarey and a pain in the ass. I found out heat and anti-inflammatories are the common treatment, which I am doing. [shrug] Hopefully my chiro was right and this will be a thing of the past in a week or so. I also read some prevention techniques, like improving one's posture, and doing core crunches. So am doing that as well.
Man, it sucks to get old....
