I can't believe what I just witnessed tonight. It was wonderfully stimulating, pleasing, and mindblowing. Tonight I was Matisyahu live in concert at St. Andrew's in Detroit.
The guy who opened for Matisyahu (something Pigeon) was okay, but nothing compared to Matis. I got some of Matis songs on my digital camera. I was torn between shooting complete songs or partial songs (then dancing). I chose the dancing option so I have fragments of video clips. I think I got most of "Warrior" and some of "King w/out a Crown" but I can't remember. Let me know if you want to see them and I'll e-mail them over to you.
So, Matis comes on stage:
The man is like 6'something; super tall. He gives off a calm, gentle-type aura. His got his big black hat and grabs on. He sounds just like on CD. I also took some pics of him. (Anyone want to make me a Matis icon if they turn out good?)

His encore was phenomenal. And then my dream came true...

I was leaving with some people I had met at the concert, and I decided to stay and see if I could finally get my dream of speaking to him. I saw a Jewish boy with his father and some guy from inside; they were going to be let in again. I figured they were going to see him. After about 2 minutes of contemplation, I tapped the boy (about 15/16 yrs old) on the shoulder to get his attention. I asked him if he was going to met Matis and he said "probably". I asked him not to think I'm crazy and said 'if you met him, can you tell him some girl says thank you for helping me see the light?' He said yes, about 45 seconds later, the boy went inside. I was happy that the chances of my message getting my msg across were pretty good.
So, I was going to leave but then a girl next to me told me that Matis was getting out of his bus (right behind us) to go back inside and pray. About 15-20 minutes later, he comes out of his bus to say his Chanuka prayers inside. For some reason, everyone was silent. Suddenly, someone said "hey matis!" and I jumped at the chance to also break the silence. I called his name and told him 'thank you' for helping me convert to Judaism.' He looked at me, smiled, held up his hand and nodded at me. After that, I felt like I had completed one of my goals. My legs started to shake and I felt light headed. I felt like crying (i.e. just like the girls in the Michael Jackson videos, haha, yea, I'm a loser, that's right!), but I didn't. That moment in time was priceless. I will <3 Matisyahu forever!!!

P.S. If you've never heard his music, what are you waiting for?!?!??!!! :O
