Which got me wondering: how many lives do cats have in other cultures?

nine, though i'm not exactly sure which culture, other than middle america, that comes from.

Most (anglo) fairy tales refer to nine. So I can't help wondering where the 7 came from...

If neither of the "th" sounds from English exist in Konkani, then what sound does the "th" in "sath" make?

And I only know of 9 lives for cats. I think it's specifically an American number, but I can't remember (or never knew) the number for any other culture.

The "th" in Konkani is the त in devnagari (the dental 'ta' in the table linked below) and is pronounced as tƏ (or the second 'te' in tenterhook).
