suggestion: you should sell this to the Atkins people. after all the bad press they've been getting lately I bet they're dying for some positive testimonials. :)
As to how you feel now after cutting carbs out of your diet, I know what that's like- I've done it. Mind you I cut out almost everything, not just carbs. I was consuming about 15% of my RDI of calories. It feels really good to have control of your body like that, the cravings serve well as a constant reminder of what you're trying to do. I think some people diet repeatedly because it gives them this feeling of control. Of course they end up failing and finding a new diet because they aren't dealing with the problem, only the symptoms. But I think it's psychologically unhealthy people like this who have taken over the dieting industry, and that's why it has been given such a bad rap by society. Unfortunately it seems that the media attention that these diets get fuels other peoples problems with control and self esteem, so the problem ends up growing. It serves to maintain an industry, which is good for the economy I guess... but at the cost of peoples mental health? Not that they wouldn't find other outlets to redirect their issues onto, but I doubt those outlets would be as stable and as socially acceptable as this one. The way dieting is treated in society today establishes it as a safe place to harbour your neuroticisms. And it is unlikely that you will ever confront or deal with your issues when you have such a secure structure to house them in and so many people to support you in your endevours.
I don't have a problem with making healthy food choices, and all a diet is is a way to establish a patern of healthy food choices. I do have a problem with the dieting industry in the west, and the harmful role it plays in society. Which is why I would never go on 'a diet', because I don't believe in supporting an institution that enshrines psychological maladaptive behaviour into the fundamental fabric of society: your health.
I follow the health canada food guide :)
more or less...
see, I don't worry about you dieting cause I know why you're doing it and I know that you're a fairly mentally balanced person. I just thought I'd let you know why I feel the way I do about dieting cause I don't think I ever explained it to you and I don't want you to feel that I don't support you in doing whatever you want to live healthier. I know you said not to post anything but suggestions or questions, but I wanted to write it out cause the next time I see you I'm going to forget :)
btw, how much weight did you lose?

Thanks for sharing , Hun :)
I dont know how much weight I lost because, funny enough, I didn't track my weight ( I dont weigh myself).
It is sufficient for me to feel my clothes sag on my waist and people telling me I look skinnier and healthier...
