Hello! I'm so glad this community was in the spotlight =) I haven't baked anything, cupcakes or otherwise, for ages, and now I'm inspired again. Yay.
I do have a question or two, though. First, how would one go about making a kind of coppery-color with drop food coloring? I'm trying to figure out how to not make it too much like just plain orange or yellow. I'll certainly be experimenting as soon as the kitchen's available, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone's done it before. What proportions of which colors work best?
Also, if I were to make cupcakes from something like
this recipe, but wanted to add in cereal, how would I go about doing so? I know in trying to get the measurement for the cereal is going to require some trial and error, but what I'd like to know is how I'd put it into the mix. It says in step four to add the dry ingredients into the mixture of eggs, butter, and sugar, in three parts, alternating with the milk and vanilla, and goes on to say not to overbeat. Would it be okay if I were to add the milk in two half-cups at a time, and do something like flour - vanilla - flour - half-cup milk - flour - half-cup milk - cereal, or should I add in the cereal with the flour at one point?
I know that probably sounds like a very odd idea, but I'll explain all that later, once I get around to making a test batch of what I have in mind. ;-)
