Some students and I are volunteering at the Komen Dallas Race for the Cure tomorrow, and we're meeting at 4:45AM.. so I thought I'd bake some pink cupcakes for everyone!
Vanilla & vanilla.. I was tired so I just slapped the frosting on =X
Saved one for my boyfriend :) It says "i ♥ u ân" ... but my writing icing got kind of runny so it looks like blood, oh no!
I remembered several people mentioning the Amy Sedaris cupcake recipe, so I decided to try it this time.. I love it! So simple but yummy, and they came out perfectly golden and flat. My only problem is that it was a bit too sweet for me so I will cut the sugar next time, but I will definitely keep this recipe handy.
This was my second time making frosting from scratch.. I followed the recipe and it tasted exactly like the ingredients, butter and powdered sugar. I tried adding more milk, even a pinch of salt and cinnamon.. it helped but still too sweet. I love the way whipped cream frosting tastes.. does anyone have a good recipe for that? (I usually just mix Cool Whip with pudding) Or any frosting recipes that aren't too sweet or buttery? Thanks! :)
Also, I had really wanted to make pink ribbons out of fondant like in
this post, but when I tried to make marshmallow fondant, it got too sticky! Maybe I was just being impatient but do you have tips for making that? I tried to follow the instructions but.. I don't know, I gave up on it. :(
