The Cavepenguins' Marvelous Adventures at Dinosaur Island

My friend and I were inspired by some fabulous dinosaur cupcakes we spotted on this group courtesy of im_iller and decided we'd try to make some for my boyfriend (since he likes dinosaurs). We tried to make some of our own but this was our first time experimenting with fondant, we didn't have a cupcake holder, and were pretty rotten at sculpting dinosaurs . Fortunately, my boyfriend is a big fan of penguins and those are simpler to make, so we created a fun little hybrid. Excuse the amateur sculpting, but do feast your eyes on the strange adventures of our Prehistorical Cavepenguins!
The Googly Eyed Head Penguin Guarding the Hut with a Tiki Torch
Construction:
- Chocolate cupcakes (box mix + instant jello choc pudding)
- Frosting (chocolate and vanilla--both canned)
- Fondant penguins, leaves, "dinosaurs," loin cloths, fake animal skins
- Pretzel trees, pretzel huts
- Sprinkles for a nice touch, including dinosaur sprinkles
