Hi everyone.
Please, please please please promise me right now that you'll read the whole story associated with these cupcakes before you go looking at the pictures under the cut, mkay? Promise? Good.
I posted here a week or two ago about needing help finding a cupcake carrier, because I was planning on making an obscene amount of cupcakes for the cast of a play I was in at my university. I ended up buying two from Target, and I love them, they're absolutely amazing. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions on that.
Anyway, the play I was working on was "Cabaret". For anyone who isn't familiar with the play, it takes place in 1930's Berlin, and basically shows Berlin's collapse as the Nazi party came to power.
SO, with my sick sense of humor, I thought it would be hilarious to make delicious Nazi cupcakes for my cast. Everyone in the cast shared that sort of sense of humor, so I knew everyone would appreciate it. I just used a white box mix, and canned vanilla frosting, since I needed to make them in such a huge amount so quickly. I used black decorating gel to draw swastikas on all the cupcakes.
Now, I'd like to say that I do not in any way endorse or approve of the horrific actions of the Nazi party. Not one bit. This just had to do with the play I was working on. Please don't click behind the cut to look at the pictures if you are offended by images of swastikas. Mods, though there is absolutely no malicious intent with these pictures, I understand if you have to remove the post or anything. I know my sense of humor is pretty twisted, and not everyone shares it.
I like the foil wrappers!
Rawrrr, I will eat you, Nazi cupcakes.
One of my two new cupcake carriers. Love it!
Oh, and as a side note, the original plan was to use this pre-packaged icing bag to pipe red around the cupcakes as a border. It was awful and I ended up scrapping the idea altogether. The icing was very difficult to squeeze out, and did not manipulate well. Please don't waste your money on this product!
The cupcakes were so tasty! My cast had a good laugh, and also really enjoyed eating them. All 48 cupcakes were gone in about fifteen minutes.
