Stemming from the homosexuality topic in one of the forums I frequent, I give you this, for your reading pleasure. And why people who use the bible as the backbone of their outdated views, don't have a pot to piss in.

homosexualioty isn't a translated word. We made it up. It wasn't in the bible. Marriage wasn't even something loving, as weren't women. Marriage was a money and pride issue where as women were property... But a lot's changed since the old Testament. Thank God He delivered us away from the Old Testament otherwise we couldn't talk the way we did or we'd be put to death. Oh and that cotton shirt yer wearin, that's gotta go too. IF we lived Old Testament wise ( ... )

Actually Lexxy... even though most Christian faiths no longer abide totally by the Old Testament - it's the customs that are usually discounted... not the moral and God teachings that are disclaimed. For example, the custom of men not shaving their face, not wearing cotton, not eating "dirty" fish (aka catfish), etc that are no longer practiced. But, the 10 Commandments are still to be followed.
As far as homosexual activities are concerned, it's also mentioned in the New Testament. The act of/behavior is still a sin. We still are suppose to love the person, but hate the sin. Unfortunately a lot of people forget to do that or they don't understand the difference.

I really don't know how the direct scriptures against homosexuality are misinterrepted. Reading the scriptures before and after... it's pretty solid.

No, I'm not trying to argue or anything... I just have a differing POV ;)

I love ya!

Solid when it was written, when there were homosexual prostitutes, and grown men slept with boys. Homosexuality back then is not what it is now. Times change, things were different back then and that's how the bible should be read. Not verbatim. You can't pick and choose what's acceptable, unless you read everything over again with that same attitude. Remember that plank in your eye..
