Happy 4th of July, everyone! :)
Used to be that fireworks were allowed in the rural parts of my county. I thought that it was still so until Tuesday night when I saw that fireworks are illegal in all of the county. Now here's the kicker - it's illegal to use them, but it's not illegal to sell them. So there are no less than half a dozen fireworks stores (temporary trailers) I've seen in a 5 mile radius from my house. Hence why I assumed they were still legal. Go figure.
In other news of interest, the American Village will be using a laser light show instead of fireworks. They made this decision during the beginning of the summer when everyone was saying there would be no fireworks allowed due to the severe drought. We are still in a severe drought but organized firework events were not banned, but alas it was too late for them to organize a show. So, laser lights it will be. I am going to watch it from my driveway (I live about 3 miles from it).
This is a picture from a past event. Unfortunately, lasers don't look this neat. There's nothing like seeing fireworks there and hearing the cannons! I love their reenacting all that colonial stuff! Some of those patriots are so dashing! :) Though I don't envy them in their costumes when it's 96 degrees outside with high humidity!
Hope y'all are having a great 4th! :)
