ethiopia

addis ababa, christmas morning boy.

must have been one of the craziest 48 hours in my life, merry merry christmas.
as the horn of africa slowly breaks into hell, half of my team reached here a little while ago.

i was given an assignment by joe's agency in ethiopia which of course i rejected out front, i don't really care much about human crisis anymore, they can all die for all i care. But the call turned into a chat , it was x'mas eve and both of us  were just pretty bored with the horrid state of things.

he told me as part of the act to fund their military acts, animals from the zoo are being slaughtered and stuffed and sold to overseas bidders. Poachers were also hired by the local military to hunt down more prized animals for the benefit of european natural history musuems, or asian, whatever. Well, animals are sorta of a natural resource too, and a much more less complicated affair of smuggling if the military is doing it .

The animals of ethiopia were already being slaughtered a month ago. The news came in from headquarters but we really didn't give a damn as my team only handles the asian continent. Africa seemed so 'foreign' , hot and unmanageable. besides, I won't have the benefit of blending into the crowd in ethiopia.

this 2 pieces of news linked up and shed a horrid picture that my team couldn't bear at all. Animals being killed to fund war on a x'mas morning.

its pretty war-torn, havn't got to read about what this war is about actually, better not embarrassed myself at the meeting later this evening..
rumours said there was a air-raid this morning and the one of the air ports is gone.
the addis ababa counterpart here in ethiopia keeps hyenas as pets, very intimidating.
feels like i'm back in east timor, the colors are almost the same.
speaking of which i miss my little ramiro..

and if you'r interested
