Warning: I don't even know How do you warn for this? Random internal monologue, that I have no idea where it came from.
The sound of Edward Elric screaming at someone could be heard blocks away, and Roy sighed before taking a sip of his newly acquired coffee, starting in the direction the yelling had come from. It was most likely the case of some shop keeper insulting his height, with he blond one could never know - but always alert, Mustang kept one hand cleverly concealed in a pocket, glove already in place.
When he turned the corner, the Colonel was faced with a glaring subordinate, cheek bruised and bleeding from several superficial wounds to the face. In front of him stood an even smaller - was that even possible? - boy (man?), with no shirt on and sword drawn and ready.
Ed had already transmuted his arm into a blade, and now that Roy was close enough he could make out the blond's huffed breaths, gasping for air. "Would you stay still for five seconds?!" He demanded, "How can you be so fast?"
"Don't compare me to your expectations of speed, human." The stranger retorted, smirking at the teen. "You're pathetic. Now, have you finally learned your lesson, or should I teach you again?"
Roy noticed Edward getting into another fighting stance and decided to interject. He stepped forward, quirking a brow at his subordinate before making his presence known. "Wow, Ed. I thought you'd be able to get along with someone smaller than you. Guess I was wrong."
Golden eyes widened and Edward's head jerked in the older man's direction, practically snarling at him. "Don't you even start!" He snapped, turning his gaze back to Hiei, warily keeping an eye on the other's presence. "None of this concerns you."
Edward relaxed from his previous position, but remained watchful for any attack as he now addressed the stranger. "Human? What are you, another homunculus? Don't tell me the mark's hidden under the bandage on your forehead or something." Damn it, even this guy's voice irked him. "Or are you a chimera of some kind?" That might explain the speed, even Envy wasn't that fast...
"I am a demon." Hiei answered coldly, showing no interest in Mustang's presence at all. "And to answer your other question, this conceals my Jagan Eye. Something I'm sure you know nothing about."
"Wait a minute, you have a third eye? You're kidding me!" The blond retorted, neglecting to comment on how likely it was that the stranger was a demon, even with that speed. He was convinced, homunculus or chimera was more like it.
"Yes," Hiei answered, amused by the other's blatant disbelief in response to his words. "I had it implanted in order to find my sister."
"You... volunteered to have a third eye- .... hold on a second, find your sister? Then it could be used to find the Philosopher's Stone!"
"A human like you could never understand the power of the Jagan Eye." Hiei countered, simply. "Now, get out of my way before I feel required to make you."
"I don't think so, you're going to pay f-"
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." A calmer voice responded from nearby. "Few who challenge Hiei come out of it alive."
Oh, great. Now there were two of them. Out of the corner of his eye, Ed caught sight of Mustang stepping closer, as he tugged his other glove into place, facing the strangers. "Fullmetal, where's your brother?"
Right, three on two, Ed was sure they could beat these guys. Only problem was, Alphonse was nowhere to be found. "I don't know!" He shouted, great time to go missing, Al.
A red haired teenager was now standing beside the smaller man, and Edward realized his arm just wasn't going to cut it against both of them - especially if the new guy was even half as fast as the first. Edward clapped his hands together, slamming them to the ground and forming his usual spear as he stood up once more - blue light crackling around him with alchemic energy, the man made lightning fading away only once the transmutation was finished.
"Come on, Hiei. These two aren't worth our time." The red haired boy said with a smirk, turning back the way he'd come. "We need to find a way back to demon world, there's no sense wasting our time here."
"I couldn't have said it better myself." The shorter man agreed, following after the other without another word.
Edward collapsed to his knees, staring wordlessly at their retreating backs. The Colonel glanced from the blond to the demons and back again before murmuring. "So, Ed... Care to explain that to me?"
Sighing, the teen got to his feet, dusted himself off and started in the opposite direction. A hand raised to wave at Mustang, as he left with no more of a response than, "Nah, not really. Later, Colonel."
