Most enjoyable time last night at the Prince for the aptly named Little Prince. An acoustic night, very much in the spirit of the Duke on a sunday. And everyone (just about) was named Dave.
First up was the brothers Thomas (neither being Dave) who played their usual brand of great songs and it was good to see them play again after so long. Next was Dave Ong - the surprise package of the night. He was FANTASTIC. Channelling all the great sounds of the late 60s early 70s - Young, Reed, Parsons, Drake and most particularly Marc Bolan. I was entralled and engrossed. It was fabs. Next, Davey Lane, with a mix of old faves and new tunes - including a Bob Dylan-esq tune (very interesting). He was of course, great. Then finally, Pete and Dave of DC fame. I do not need to say that they were sensational. Plenty of DC tracks, plus some covers, including If I needed someone and Ring of Fire. Blessed are they. Even with just an acoustic Parko is sexual. Mmmhmm.
Someone whose name was not Dave, was a young man named Jason. He seems very nice, very friendly and most importantly he treats my friend nicely. He gets a probationary tick of approval.
