"In 1997, Chicken Zombies zoned in at No.5 on the Japanese charts, followed by a sold-out thirty-six-city, fifty-two-date tour and five UK shows the following year. Gear Blues took off by selling over half a million copies in 1998, Casanove Snake followed suit in 2000, and in 2001, Rodeo Tandem Beat Specter shook up the charts at No.1. After listening to TMGE, you might feel a little crazy- or "wild eyed", as one British magazine put it. And that's because you're being hit with whole walls of concentrated, amplified rock. TMGE is noisy like concrete rubbed over granite chunks, causing feedback in your head. Its piles of songs twang and groove, shoving with uncompromising guitar, stretching and crushing multiple senses all at once. With crashing drums, bass lines all over the place, and Chiba's loud, scratchy, gravelly vocals sometimes mixing with, sometimes topping the super-charged mess-- It's refreshingly masochistic.
