Cuh-razy weekend

Alright, I suppose an update or two is in order.

First off, I've finally made server at Shari's (meaning I make close to twice per hour than I did before). It was odd, a few days ago Gary and Adam (both managers) pulled me aside to tell me I was gonna get promoted, then Adam added "Yeah, dude, Ryan swore that you would not make server... he did NOT like you, at all..."

Uhhhh, thanks Adam... Though truthfully I could tell anyway...

Oh well, this past weekend I was supposed to pull a hosting shift both Saturday and Sunday morning. Adam calls me up on Friday, asks if I'd be willing to do a little something extra for them.

Anywho, the circus is in town (well, WAS in town), and it was being held in the mall parking lot (fairly close to Sharis). When they first arrived here, we came to an agreement - if we advertised for them in our restaurant, we could set up a booth outside their exit and sell/promote whatever we damn well please.

Anyway, so Adam and Gary wanted me to essentially run the table. They said they wanted one girl and one guy, and I was the most outgoing guy who works there. It was pretty cool though, they said "And since we like doing stuff for ya Mike, how about this... Danielle is gonna work with you for the first show each day, but you can pick the girl for the last two shows of each day."

(The circus held 3 shows every day)

So I went with this server named Katherine (aka Kat). I knew she needed the extra cash, and she's a pretty goofy person (doesn't hurt that she's cute, either).

...Damn I've got a nice tan... Anyway, on with the story!

So we just set up a table outside, sold pies/cinnamon buns for reduced prices, gave away coupons for stuff, gave away cookies to cute little kids... It was fun...

Anyway, outside of the circus there was an acrobat named Agostino. He was part of the show (he was basically the most entertaining portion of it), and at the end he'd stand outside, sell programs, and pose for pictures/give autographs. The funny part was that he'd do this in costume, so there's this 5'6" South-American guy wearing black spandex shorts, neon green boots, and a neon green vest (with his hair spiked into a mowhawk).

Anyway, Agostino is Venezuelian, and doesn't really know a lot of English, and Kat and I don't really know a whole lot of Spanish, but we'd still try to communicate with him anyway. He was a very nice guy, very friendly, especially towards Kat (he obviously liked to flirt). He gave us free programs, we gave him free cookies. He even called us his best friends... *sniff*

Anyway, in the middle of the first day the owner of the circus (www.circuschimera.com) comes out and chats with me and Kat. We both mention that we'd love to see the circus, so on the spot he hands us a family pass (and adds "pretend you're brother and sister"). So we're pumped because we get to see the show (I enjoy the circus).

So the next day Kat and I go see the circus. It was a very good show, especially Agostino (he had an act called the "Wheel of Destiny" where he pretty much ran around on a giant swinging metal wheel high in the air, no net... it was pretty damn impressive).

So Kat and I had some downtime between the afternoon and evening shows, so we went back to Shari's to grab some dinner. All of my coworkers kept making jokes about "oh, are you two an item now?" ;)

Yeah, guys... I usually go on dates with girls (1) two years older than me, (2) who trained for two years as a mime, and (3) who is still legally married (she's getting a divorce).

Aye yi yi... Goin on dates with married women... LoL, I just can't seem to break these kinds of habits...

So anyway, the very last show was coming up, and we wanted to give our new best friend, Agostino, something to remember us by. So Kat and I drove to Barnes and Noble, bought a English-to-Spanish phrasebook for ourselves, and a Spanish-to-English phrasebook for Agostino. (Together they cost about $12)

It was funny how different the books were. The book we got for ourselves had phrases like "good day," "which way to the nearest hotel?" and "how much does this cost?"

The book we got for him had phrases like "the submarine is leaking," "it is very foggy in here" and "that man is my favorite brother!"

We were jealous.

Oh, and there was also a book of inappropriate phrases in Spanish... So I got some joy out of wandering around Barnes and Noble shouting "that bitch gave me the clap!" in Spanish... ahhhh, good times...

So we go to the circus one last time, and wouldn't you know it, Agostino doesn't come out! Sadness! Since it was the last show, they had to break down the circus that night, so he was probably too busy to come visit.

We knew they liked to eat at Shari's, though, so we left the book there, and instructed every server to find out if they get Agostino, and give him the book (we busted out our programs and showed them a picture of him).

There was more, involving a really creepy stalker-dude... But I have to get to class...

Later!
