that on second viewing of The Dark Knight I discovered I have way more issues with that film than I thought.

Yeah, it's not flawless but it's better than most movies in general. What makes it for me is it's pretty much a non-comic book movie. Also, it's more of a crime drama. I have some issues with it like how it flops at the end with Two-Face (just not satisfying) and how people are like, "how's going to play the Joker in the next Batman movie?" The answer is no-one. You don't have to kill the "bad guy" in order to finalize an episode. It never occurred to me that they'd continue with The Joker story into the next film.

Even tho he died in real life, I thought Heath Ledger was AMAZING. He was the person who sold it for me. It had no influence that it was his second to last Swan Song on film or I should say the first movie so close to his death.

Was it a Batman movie? Yes and your points are valid. I really dislike his Bruce Wayne, he's a fucking arrogant prick and I don't find anything charming about him.

I really like Gary Oldman's Gordon, he's my other favorite even if his accent is, well, "odd" at times.

The whole boat sequence was hard to swallow. I think it's the cynicism in me speaking on this. I suppose I could see how some bleeding heart would speak out but ultimately with kids on-board and such... c'mon!

I've always liked Marvel more than DC anyway. I was big into Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns when it came out (and since then I suppose). I always wished they made that graphic novel instead... but not turn it into the Sin City/Spirit/300 sort of thing. Mostly just to see the story play out on screen, it's so visceral and raw. I love the dynamic among the aging superheroes in a world dropped even further into chaos and despair.

I still prefer Iron Man over The Dark Knight for an evening of something to watch, between the two. Even tho Iron Man fizzles at the end I throughly fell in love with it. Hell, even the last Hulk movie was great! I really hope they can pull the cast together for The Avengers before the interest dies (what if the other one-offs really suck?). Iron Man two looks like tits tho! I'm excited.

I finally got round to watching Iron Man again last week also, and I still find it hard to love despite also liking it. It seems to be so vibrant and full of things to love but none of it gels for me, I think they wasted Jeff bridges at the end, if i was 9 though it would probably be the greatest thing ever made. The Hulk is still my favourite superhero movie from that year. that movie also and despite my post I still liked The Dark Knight, It's massive popularity just seems to be lost on me.

I don't want to be the one that hates something because of what it had become, I stayed away from ledgers performance because It is completely brilliant and no amount of internet backlash can ever take that away from it.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a WWII set Captain America.... I don't believe that will happen though.
