My friend posted a journal about forgotten movie legends so I figured I woudl take a guess at who the next legends might be. Fell free to give your opinions. Fell free to give your opinions of other peoples answers but back up your opinions with more than OMG they suck.
If you were making this list in 50 years, what actors, actresses from present day or recent past do you think would be on it?
In no particualr order
Tom Hanks: Yeah he has done some box office bombs, but he has also proven that he can act and doesn't have to rely on special effects to get his point across or touch our hearts. (Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Band of brothers as director and producer)
Morgan Freeman: Admittedly he is one of my favorite actors, and has prven himself as being able to stand the test of time. (Shawshank Redemption, Glory, Drving Miss Daisy, Lean on Me)
Dan Akroyd: He has shown that he can play serious and comedic roles. (Blues Borthers, Ghostbusters, My Girl, Driving Miss Daisy)
Cameron Bright: This one hasn't proven himself yet, but I think he will. He's a eleven year old male actor who has been in a few movies in the past 2-3 years, and even though they flopped he wasn't the reason he shined even out acting Robert Deniro and Rebecca romajin stamos in Godsend. What i think could make or break this childs career he picks really interesting scripts to try out for he doesn't do your average kiddie movie. He picks controversial scripts like in Godsend he plays a child clone made from a kid who just died, and parents try this new procedure to clone formt eh dead body, the movie was bad but he was great. Also in his latest film he plays with Nicole Kidman who believes the spirit of her dead husband has returned to her in a ten year olds body that ten year old is played by Cameron. (GodSend, Birth, Butterfly Effect)
Jim Carrey: As much I'm not a big fan of his comedies, Ic an't deny his comedic talent, but when he does a non-comedic role watch out, because the stuff is gold. I don't think he gets as much crecit for some of his best work because when someone like Carrey, or Adam Sandler try and do a serious role it tends to flop or get bad reviews because their normal audience goes and expects slapstick like Liar, Liar, during a movie like Eternal Sunshine. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Majestic, Truman Show, Doing Time on Maple Drive, Man on the Moon)
Bill Murray: Like Akroyd Murray is comedic genuies,b ut also does good in dramatic roles. ( Rushmore, Lost in Translation, What about Bob?, Caddyshack)
Jack Nicholson: For a while in the 1990's and maybe still Nichlson was the epitome of Sexy and Cool for a guy, and his acting range is huge from suspense to comedy to drama. (one flew over the Cuckoo's nest, shining, Batman)
Clint Eastwood: As an actor and director he has proven that he is one of the ebst of the best. ( Unforgiven, Fistfull of dollars, Bridges Of Madison County) (as a director Mystic River,Outlaw Josey Wales)
Kevin Spacey: Spacey has palyed a lot of interesting roles, but I can't name one movie where i can pick another actor who owuld ahve palyed the role better. (Usual Suspects, American Beauty, Hurlyburly)
Natalie Portman: She's shown a lot of potential and no I'm not talking about Star Wars. If you haven't seen it check out her movie debut in Leon the professional. At the age of 12 she plays a girl who is taken in by professional hitman after her family is killed. She has everything it takes to make it big in the business, and is even smart enough to continue in furthering her education while acting. (Leon, Garden State, Where the Heart is)
Now I know I probably missed a few, but these are the people in my head that are going to be considered legends one day, the others maybe great but these guys and gal have done alot and don't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
