The Cliche Story (2/2)
-PART 2 -
Prom day came and Kyuhyun picked Sungmin up in her house.
“You look beautiful” Kyuhyun told her when she met him at the living room. Her mom squealed as she kissed her. The two went out the house just in time Hyukjae went out on his.
Hyukjae smiled at them when he saw them. Sungmin happily waved at him and grinned.
“Where’s Yoobin-unnie?” Sungmin shouted.
“I’m just about to pick her up” Hyukjae shouted back, waved, and went in his car. Though Hyukjae didn’t drive first.
He sat on the driver’s seat and watched as Kyuhyun opened the door for Sungmin and she went in. He watched as Kyuhyun breathed in heavily before jogging to the driver’s seat. He watched as Kyuhyun helped Sungmin with her with the seatbelt, and watched as Sungmin blushed right after Kyuhyun sat back on his seat. And he watched how Kyuhyun stole a loving glance to his best friend before he drove off.
And when the car’s out of sight Hyukjae’s hypertensive kicked in making him feel a weird pain on his chest.
A real fuck to hypertension - or so what Hyukjae thought.

Hyukjae smiled on the name he written as to whom he voted for Prom Queen, of course it would be her, her best friend.
He turned around to see if Yoobin has been back from the comfort room only to frown when she’s taking a bit long. So he strode the ballroom hall and mingled with people, and then Sungmin came up to him with a big smile.
“Hyukkie” Sungmin said as she stepped closer to him and she hugged him. “Where’s Yoobin-unnie?” She asked as she let go and noticed the un-presence of his girlfriend.
“In the ladies’ room, where’s Kyuhyun?” He asked as he wound an arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
Sungmin looked up at him “Same”
“In the ladies’ room, too?” Hyukkie teased. Sungmin slapped his arm and pushed him.
“Of course, not!”
The two laughed then Sungmin puffed her cheeks at him. “Hyukkie” She said.
“Mm?”
“I voted for you” she said, Hyukjae abruptly looked at her “did you vote for me?”
Hyukjae nodded “Of course, I promised you, remember?” He said as his hand started to caress her side.
“You didn’t vote for Unnie?” Sungmin whispered and Hyukjae shook his head.
“Don’t tell, okay” He whispered and the two best friends laughed.

“LEE SUNGMIN AND LEE HYUKJAE!” The announcer said. Hyukjae who was sipping a punch by the buffet talking with Donghae since Yoobin yet again decided to go to the ladies’ room, looked up as a spot light spot him in the light.(Redundant XD)
And Sungmin who was busy holding hands with Kyuhyun at the back of the room looked up as another spot light, spot her in.
“May I request the prom queen and king to go up the stage” The girl said. So Hyukjae excused himself to Donghae and walked to the stage. And Sungmin, who doesn’t want to be let go by Kyuhyun, kissed him on the cheek for consolation - which did the trick since he let go of her.
Sungmin smiled cheekily at Hyukjae when they stood side by side by the stage and the people applauded. Hyukjae bent down to Sungmin and lightly brushed his lips on her cheek.
“Why is Minnie so beautiful tonight” He whispered after kissing her and then he stood straight. Missing the way Sungmin’s cheeks burned red, and stifle a genuinely sweet smile.
Everyone knows there’s no malice at that since the two have been best friend even before.

The prom’s ending soon and Yoobin’s mom just called Hyukjae to remind him that Yoobin should be brought home before 1 so he searched for her.
He went around the hall, looking for his girlfriend until someone decided to leave him some clue besides an I don’t know.
“I saw her by the parking lot with her girl friends” A good friend of him said. He patted his shoulder as gratitude and walked out to the parking lot but it wasn’t her girl friends she’s with.
“Yoobin?” His voice cracked as he saw her with a man, equally eating each other, equally devouring one another.
Yoobin immediately pushed the man off of her and looked at Hyukjae with a mixed expression of shocked and sad.
“Hyukjae” She muttered as she tears quickly brimmed her eyes as she walked towards him but Hyukjae just shook his head and stepped back.
“Don’t even try apologizing, you know being cheated on is what I hate the most” He said coldly and turned around ready to walk away but he turned around one last time.
“Just to remind you, we just broke up” He said one last time, turned around, breathed heavily and walked to his car faster weird that his heart doesn’t ache that much.

Sungmin was sitting on Hyukjae’s house’ kitchen, Hyukjae’s mom by the sink washing the dishes.
“He doesn’t want to eat, it’s been days, Min, better talk to your friend, I’m quite disturbed” His mom said.
Sungmin chewed on her food before replying. “They just broke up” She said.
Hyukje’s mom’s head abruptly turned around to face Sungmin “Yoobin and Hyukjae broke up?”
Sungmin nodded as she got the bowl and walked beside Hyukjae’s mom and placed her bowl by the sink.
“Yes Auntie, though I don’t want to be the one to tell you, why” she said.
Hyukjae’s mom sighed heavily and nodded “Ok, dear, please go upstairs and bring the food to Hyukjae, I know he couldn’t say no to you”
So Sungmin went up, weirdly the door’s not locked. So when she pushed open the door, she saw Hyukjae lying on his bed, the covers up until his neck, his back facing her.
“Hyukjae” She mumbled as she stepped in. She closed the door and placed the tray of food on Hyukjae’s study table.
“Hyukjae” Sungmin mumbled again as she sat on the bed beside his lying figure. Hyukjae turned around and Sungmin at once noticed his best friend’s puffy eyes.
“Min” He said as he embraced her by the waist, and buried his head on her tummy.
“What happened?” She asked as she lifted his leg up on the bed and started caressing Hyukjae’s shoulder.
“We broke up” He mumbled.
“I know, why?” She asked. Hyukjae sat up on the bed, revealing his half-naked self again, he still had his arms around Sungmin’s and he continued hugging her as he came closer then he rested his head on her shoulder.
“Third party” He said.
She leaned her head on his head and closed her eyes. It just feels comfortable for the two. So Sungmin placed her hands above Hyukjae’s once and caressed his hands with her thumb.
Hyukjae smiled at the affection of how nice there position are. He would always hug Sungmin, but not like this, not like this that he’s too happy, not like this that he’s yet feeling another weird feeling but it’s different to the hypertension symptom he felt before.
“Min, I’ve had enough with women, can’t we two just be together?” Hyukjae suddenly said. Sungmin’s eyes snapped open and she slowly turned to Hyukjae. Hyukjae slowly lift his head from Sungmin’s shoulder and looked at Sungmin.
“Are you joking?” Sungmin asked though she wishes he’s not.
But Hyukjae didn’t answer her and just leaned down and captured her lips. He kissed her slowly and lovingly, and she opened up accepting the offer. Fuck why am I having a zoo in my stomach? Butterflies? Really Hyukjae thought as he slowly placed his hand behind Sungmin’s head and pushed her closer to him. This beautiful feeling. Sungmin thought. Hyukjae tilted his head and plunged in her mouth his tongue, devouring, exploring hers. So when the two decided to part when neither can’t breathe anymore they just stared at each other, trying to see if one regretted or one enjoyed, though both emotionless.
Sungmin’s heart was pounding so hard,so hard she’s afraid it’ll come off her ribs so she abruptly stood up, blinked at Hyukjae and ran out his room.

After that incident the two talked less, though they still go home together. Though Kyuhyun kept on insisting he would bring Sungmin home but she would just say He might get mad - though not really. Hyukjae would still carry her bag for her and open the door for her. He would still fix his jammed seat-belt if she can’t pull. And he will still stay up until 6 to wait for her finish her cheerdance training,
She would still visit his house and talk to his mom, and then when he’ll go down to the kitchen, she’ll be asking to leave.
Until one day when the two went home together, if the past few weeks, Sungmin would mumble a Thank You, and then hop off the vehicle. This time she stayed, and he stayed - wondering why she stayed. So when even before their parents go out their houses and see them like that Sungmin breathed in and said “Kyuhyun asked if I could be his girlfriend”
Hyukjae stiffened and slowly turned to look at Sungmin. Sungmin turned her head to him again and smiled.
“I’m just saying” She said then hopped off his car and ran to her house.

“Mom” hyukjae said when their family’s having dessert one dinner time. His mom looked up from her plate and raised an eyebrow “What?”
He took a spoonful of pudding in his mouth, chewed, then said “What would you think, if I just broke up with my girlfriend then I court you, what would you feel?
“Rebound” His mom said and his younger brother, Henry, who had his face down on the plate looked at him
“Basketball?” He murmured. Hyukjae laughed at his brother and looked back at his mother.
“I never thought of her as a rebound” Hyukjae said as he bit the spoon.
“Do you like her even before you got together with your ex-girlfriend?” His Dad asked. Hyukjae looked at his dad and nodded “Way way before even my previous ex-girlfriends” He muttered.
“Then why didn’t you court her before?” His mom asked again.
“Basketball court? Are we talking basketball?” His brother came again and the three of them laughed.
“Yes, Henry basketball” His Dad said to his son and shove on him another bowl of chocolate pudding just to stop him for interfering,
Hyukjae sighed up at his mom “Because she might not feel the same way to me” He murmured.
“Sungmin likes you,dear” His mom said then her eyes grew wide as she playfully covered her mouth “Oops, might have spilled” She said.
Hyukjae looked at his mother with wide eyes as well “How did you know, it’s Sugnmin?” He asked.
And his parents just shrugged their shoulders.
He sighed and placed down his spoon and pudding “You know what she told me a while ago? She just told me his all-time crush is asking her to be his girlfriend” He muttered as he palmed his face.
His mom smiled and patted his shoulder “Why did she have to tell me that?” He asked again.
“Because you’re acting slow” His mom said. Hyukjae pulled his hands away from his face and looked at his mom.
“Slow?” He asked. His mom nodded.
“She’s probably telling you to move before it’s too late” His mom said again.
“You think so?”
His mom nodded.
“Should I go to her house now? And confess?” He asked.
His mom shook her head and laughed “Tomorrow, tomorrow morning, it’s too late”
And so the next morning Hyukjae woke up early, took a bath, and looked one last time in front of the mirror before jogging out across the street to Sungmin’s house.
Sungmin was locking the door when he arrived, and when she turned around she got startled to see Hyukjae right in front of her face.
“You shocked me Hyukkie!” She said clutching her heart as she looked up at him. Hyukjae just beamed at her.
“Sorry” he said then took a step back to investigate what she’s wearing because she seems going somewhere with her look.
“Going somewhere?” Hyukjae asked as he stepped closer again.
Sungmin nodded “I’ll - uh - be meeting Kyuhyun” She said. Hyukjae nodded as he put his hands in his back pocket.
“Why are you here Hyukkie?” She asked. Hyukjae looked at her and breathed heavily.
“It’s not rebound” He said as he looked at her. Her brow’s curled in confusion.
“What?”
“The feeling has been always there, always been there since before” He continued.
And her expression’s the same as before - confused.
“What are you saying - “
“I like you” He said as he withdrew his hand from his pocket and held Sungmin by the waist.
“I love you actually” He said again.
And Sungmin just stared up at him blinking, doesn’t know what to do.
“I love you ever since I knew what love means” He said as he pulled her closer, and she did took a step forward.
“If you’re thinking I’m using you as a rebound, this is not rebound” He said as he eyed her.
“The rebounds would be my past girlfriend whom I used just to get away from the feeling I feel for you” He said as he completely hugged her.
“This is genuine, I really love you” Hyukjae said as he kissed the crown of her head. Sungmin looked up and she was smiling with tears brimming on her eyes.
Hyukjae chuckled “Why are you crying?” He asked.
Sungmin shrugged “I don’t know, maybe I’m happy” She said.
“Because I love you too” She said.
Hyukjae smiled and hugged her, burying her head on his chest.
“Don’t ever break up with me, don’t ever cheat on me, don’t ever leave me” Hyukjae said and Sungmin chuckled at his chest. So she looked up at him, pulled his head towards her and kissed him. And they parted. “I will, if you promise to do the same” Sungmin said and Hyukjae kissed her again.
*Flashback*
(They were 12 yrs .old)
Sungmin and Hyukjae were under the tree at Hyukjae’s backyard, lying on their back, facing the night sky. They’re having their weekly “camp-out” sessions
“Hyukkie” Sungmin murmured as they stare up the sky waiting for the said shooting star that would happen that night. Hyukjae didn’t budge so she continued talking
“What would be the most irrational thing you ever thought of” She asked. Hyukjae turned to face Sungmin and smiled at how pretty Sungmin looked like under the moonlight.
“Falling in love with you” Hyukjae muttered even before he could control himself. Sungmin quickly turned to face Hyukjae and made a disgusted look.
“Ewwwwwww” Sungmin whined. And Hyukjae smiled at how adorable Sungmin can be.
“My sentiment exactly” Hyukjae said then when he turned his gaze back to the sky, the shooting star quickly passed the sky. He didn’t had the time to call Sungmin because he became selfish for his own wish.
“I wish Sungmin would never leave my side”
