I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny spring day. So I go for a bike ride, two loops around the park. Got my exercise in, I'm happy, a good start in my training for the 42 mile five borough bike ride in May. Then I go to church. It's a workday, and we are preparing for a group of high school students we are hosting in two weeks. I leave said bike, along with cell, ipod, and keys in one of the meeting rooms while I am cleaning. At some point someone comes into the church and takes these things...at least they left my helmet. But seriously who walks into a church looking for things to steal. I will never understand the mean spiritedness of people.
So I am now left with having no keys to my apartment or office. Locks will have to be changed. The boss will have to be called and told to come in early on Monday to open up. I got to go to the 72nd precint and make my second police report in four months. (My wallet was stolen from my pocket in December after a guy pushed me and held me down on the subway so he could get it. I'm having great luck out here in the big city...) ipod mini and bike, anoying to replace, but I am currently shopping online for a good deal. Phone more problematic as they are way expensive and my number is Indiana with the family plan and it is still unclear if I can buy the phone here, or if it will have to be mailed from Indiana.
I'm not sure if I feel better or worse that there is nothing I could have done to prevent this...at least they didn't get my wallet.
