Now that's a compliment, and not bad at all for something that basically started out of "Sif got done over, and also Heimdall is awesome". :D (OK, it was probably helped by the conversation where Mr Dee was talking about the tendency to quarterback-and-head-cheerleader pairings in mythology and I was pleased Sif escaped Aphroditeness, but I'm always willing to throw in Issues when they are handy.)

Jane appalled me so badly as a character that I really respected Thor less and bought him less as a hero because he wanted her (not helped by the fact that Natalie Portman couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. WTF Branagh!?!). Sif was awesome and Thore blew her off, which was a "you don't deserve her awesomeness" moment.

I wanted a good, if not happy, ending for Sif and this is a lot better than we got in the film.

I'm really interested in the fandom dichotomy on Jane, because I actually quite liked her and I find a divide that strong fascinating. BUT that in no way diminishes the absolute truth of Sif was awesome and Thor blew her off, which was a "you don't deserve her awesomeness" moment. Because yes. The blithe, arrogant, blind fucker. You go get yours, girl.

I like the idea of Sif going to Heimdall when Thor is going after Jane. I didn't think I'd like this pairing, but this fic is beautiful.

Oh, this was lovely. Full of sharp edges and laced with enough self-denial and self-awareness that I could really get into Sif's head.
