The Cassie Claire debacle
My primary motivation in posting about this is that I didn't know a thing about the business until I read this account. I'd heard people waving about the term "plagiarist" applied to Cassie Claire, but I'd assumed it was just people getting hot and bothered about her quote-usage (which, when I read the fics in 2005, I thought was a little excessive, but appeared to be fully cited and thus people were just being stupid, nitpicky and wanky). I think it's important that other people who didn't know and might be interested have access to the information.
Avocado (white_serpent)'s comprehensive, detailed and document-supported account of plagiarism in Cassie Claire's "Draco Trilogy", and the fandom brawl it prompted.
As I commented on it, I don't particularly care about legality or other technical issues, but am horrified at the impoliteness and disrespect of what Ms Claire did. I had a whole lot of other stuff to say, but I think it's best I don't. It's done and dusted. I just think people should know what happened.
