That tongue thing is cool

Saw The Island. Haven't laughed that much since Mr and Mrs Smith. Planning on using the line, "They totally own you," at least three times this week. Love the clones' magic ability to cause tremendous property damage. Totally exhausted; going to bed. One day I'll be interesting again.

But....how was Bean?

GRAND. Heh. He was playing his usual "I wouldn't trust this guy if he said the sky was blue and oh, look, he's the bad guy, BIG surprise there" sorta role. Which means Ewan now gets to join the select club of those who've had a showdown with Bean. (And since he's already in the Liam-Neeson-was-my-mentor club, he's really collecting his casting stereotypes!) But Bean was really quite good. I always enjoy seeing him skulk around the screen, doing his nervous huffy bad guy laugh. (You saw the pics from the premiere, right? He's really rather gorgeous and groping Scarlett.)

Mostly good. I laughed at all the bits that were supposed to be funny, and I laughed in delight at all the bits where Ewan was so convincingly a toddler in a man's body (and Scarlett, she done good too), and I laughed at everything that was even a bit ridiculous, and I laughed every time the Male and I got a bit snarky, and I think I laughed for the entire time Ewan was talking to himself. So yeah, I laughed a lot. *G*

Mmm, yay! I just went to see it again tonight. I took notes. ::headdesk:: However! I enjoyed it just as much. I think it was really well-shot, for however much my friend(s) complained about the pacing and other things. It was so pretty and there were TWO EWANS and Bean in glasses and Scarlett with unrealistic-for-her-character lipgloss, what more could one want?

You laughed?! Surely not!
I missed Mr and Mrs Smith- at least, I didn't see it.

Re the Island: I tuned out of the chase bits- it was that whole Batman thing all over again; yawn!

Hey- apropos of nothing, V found a Constatine vid the other day. Next time you drop by, remind us to show you!

Mr and Mrs Smith was one of the funniest movies I've seen this year. It's sad that you missed it.

How could I not laugh in The Island? Ewan's running around being a toddler in a man's body and talking to himself. It was all so delightful I couldn't keep the mirth restrained! *G*

ETA to above: of course, there was Bean badness. And he got to fight Obi-Wan -albeit briefly. And there is yet another death to add to his cv. Yet such a waste! Why will no one give this man something wonderful to do?! Stupid agents and casting people.

*Hmmph* or similar noise of indignation.

Damn it. I kind of figured he dies...he dies in damn near everything. I have hopes that "North Country" will be a nice departure for him. After all, he's playing an American.

Oh, I'm sorry!
I should have been more spoiler aware.

I hope suspect that in fact he surivives in his next couple of movies, and if I interpreted an interview he did correctly, he is actually more of a good guy in at least some of these. At last!

He seemed pretty keen on North Country, on the script et al; which after The Island would be a blessed relief, I'm guessing. (Though I did read that he was good in North Country, but had too little to do. Bah!)

Sorry, cupiscent! You can have your LJ back now, after this brief Bean interlude!

:p LOL

I was actually thinking in the shower this morning that someone should capitalise on the movie-goers expectations that Bean is untrustworthy to make him a morally-ambiguous do-we-trust-him GOOD guy. I mean, c'mon, there's this whole framework there, you'd barely have to set anything up in the text, you could just jump right in and start perverting expectations. *G*

I'm thinking maybe something like The Score, with the older guy versus the younger guy, and the younger guy could be the rat. He could be played by Orlando, who I'm sure would like an opportunity to put something a little edgier and nastier on his cv. Yeah? I'll call Hollywood, shall I?
