Ultimate X-Men ravings

I got Ult-X #17. Now, I don't believe in spoilers anyway, but I also really don't think I'm going to spoil anything, but if you really care, look away now.

Now, I say!

Anyway, I loved this issue! Really, really lots. So much happened, and it managed to not suck for the entire length of it. Maybe there is a future for this comic in my life after all.

Point one: Betsy Braddock. Introduced. Hot damn, she looks cool. She's one of my triad of women - her, Storm and Domino. Do not fuck. Which she amply demonstrated, and Storm too. Happydances. (And her partner's cool too, and Welsh! and I'm wondering what's the go with him because there's got to be some way in which he's holding Betsy's chain, and you don't get 'normal' folks holding the reins on a psi-warrior.)

Point two: In the way of snideness, does Wolverine's healing ability stretch to his pants as well? I mean, the shirt and jacket always shred like paper at the first sign of trouble, but even at the end of a thumping fight scene, Wolvie's jeans are still decent.

Point three: Moira is cool! Bent, twisted, holding onto her sanity with her fingernails, but way cool. And in association with this: Xavier as a bastard. I love it. I really do. This is so much more interesting than normal old boring stuff.

Point four: And speaking of which, is it just me, or is Scott cutting Jean dead? She's practically climbing all over him, and he's really not making any signals back. Not pulling away, sure, but... Or am I just thinking wishfully? I really want something new and interesting there.

Even if he's gay. That would be fine. It'd kinda fuck all my plot bunnies, but anything but Scott-and-Jean again.

Point five: Proteus rocks the casbah. I mean, he's kick-ass. But the best thing is the emotive shit that he's got going.

So well done, Millar. A standing ovation from this corner, and I cannot wait for more. Bounce bounce.
