Holiday Update: 2

Dec 24, 2006 00:36

Season's Greetings! My stay is here is almost through and I am left with mixed feelings. I made it passed the initial hump and now I'm feeling much more at ease here. Michael also seems to be doing better. This is probably due in part to the fact that tomorrow is La Noche Buena (xmas eve) and the start of actual holiday festivites (of course it is also our last full day here). How annoying is it that it falls on a Sunday?? I have to go to church TWICE, once because it is the Fourth Sunday of Advent and again at midnight for Christmas...but then I guess technically it's really only once on Sunday and once on Monday, but still. The situation with my brother is increasingly frustrating, although I am happy to report that I can now at least stand to be in his presence which, believe me, is a feat indeed.

Our time here as been more difficult than it has in the past and a lot of it is due to that fact that we really have no one to see here any longer. It is unfortunate that circumstances are the way that they are. Those few souls who would desire to meet and catch up are busy with their own familial obligations as well as meeting with the members of our far-flung diasphora with whom they have succeeded in not alienating.

In short, while this vacation has been rewarding in that I have been able to spend so much time with my mother (albeit most of that time has been spent complaining about Jason) it has nevertheless been rather lonely, not that life back home isn't either, it's just more pronounced when we're here.

Oy, the battery is going to die on this laptop, so I should let it recharge. Merry Christmas, and happy final night of Hanukkah.
