Ig-Nobels

It's that time of year again. The Ig-Nobels were given out a couple of weeks ago.

The quality of winners is particularly high this year, with such corkers as:

John W. Trinkaus' informal papers, which won the Literature category; especially the one on Brussel Sprouts.

The Physics award, which went to a bunch of Aussies for "An Analysis of the Forces Required to Drag Sheep over Various Surfaces."

Lal Bihari's Peace award--for living "an active life even though he has been declared legally dead."

They're all good, in their way. But my favourite has to be:

BIOLOGY
C.W. Moeliker, of Natuurmuseum Rotterdam, the Netherlands, for documenting the first scientifically recorded case of homosexual necrophilia in the mallard duck. And there are pictures!

My view of the world will never be quite the same.
