So I kind of lost momentum in posting over Christmas/New Year, not only because it was the festive season, and I was doing festive things, but because I was too exhausted to do more than sleep and wake up long enough to eat ham and drink cider.

I'm feeling much better now, so on with the show.

The compliment starts off as gross objectification but is then so clearly self-aware and genuinely enthusiastic that it transforms into charming, and Hoechlin’s embarrassed response is adorable.

• Why you should read it: Zombies! After the zombie apocalypse, Derek and Stiles are the only survivors from Beacon Hills, so they hit the road, looking for a new life.

• Why you should read it: Because Derek and Cora are on the world's most depressing road trip -- the most awful family holiday ever -- and then Stiles turns up. Needless to say, things get a lot more interesting after that.

• Summary: He doesn't know his name, he doesn't know who he is, and neither does the werewolf he's on the run with. But he's pretty sure they hunt monsters, because they seem to be really good at it.
• Why you should read it: This is a story in which both Stiles and Derek take an unintentional vacation from their own lives. Amnesia stories are often better in premise than execution; what I love about this one is that Stiles and Derek build this whole life and identity, which is entirely plausible, and not even entirely wrong... and then they remember.

Cupboard Love by mklutz

• Summary: He’s carefully balancing the sandwiches and the two biggest tupperware containers he could find that both had functioning lids when the front door opens and he almost drops everything right there in front of the stupid fountain. If that’s Derek Hale, he’s definitely not a mountain man.
• Why you should read it: Because after zombies, depression, and amnesia, this is the perfect holiday tonic to put a smile on your face, complete with alive!Hale family, and lots of delicious food porn. :)
