Vid: Not Afraid by cupidsbow (Festivids, PG-15)
This was made as a pinch hit, very fast, just before Festivids went live. I had hoped to pick up a pinch hit this year, and 
hmmyeahokay's requests were a real windfall -- I wouldn't have chosen any of the fandoms she had asked for, so working out what to vid and how to vid it was a challenge (which, let's face it, I love).
At first, I thought I'd make a vid about Alice from Resident Evil, because I knew I'd be able to get that source easily. But I managed to get my hands on Colombiana, and after watching it went, "Wow! A revenge tragedy I actually like!" Zoe Saldana's character was kick-ass and awesome, and deserved a vid, so it was a pretty easy choice from there.
Music was also a challenge, as I didn't know what
hmmyeahokay liked, and I had nothing in my vaults that would do. I spent some serious time pounding the internet looking at random stuff. GJan was an accidental find, but the beat really struck me as a good match for an action vid. I had to cut the song down a lot, but it in the end it worked wonderfully well with the visuals.
The only downside of doing a pinch hit was I didn't have time to get a beta, and it shows: there are some rough bits, especially in the prison sequence (which I vidded last). Anyway, I'm pleased with how it turned out. It was a lot of fun to make, and ended up being more popular than the other vid I made (go figure).
