When I signed up for the Urban Legends challenge, I had a very definite story in mind. It was full of witty banter and had lots of comic action sequences, not to mention telepathic sex using RANDI. This is not that story. See, first cesperanza wrote the dolphin story, and then skoosiepants wrote the furry octopus story, and if you can imagine those two stories combined ( Read more... )

I like the format of this, the fake cop-out ending and the almost episodic format. And it seems so appropriate that John would plan it out like a mission, finding the loopholes to make it work.

Also, I'm not sure if the Terminator conversation is hilarious or traumatizing *g*

Thank you. I love playing around with format. I always have this sneaking suspicion that I can make the words mean more somehow, if only I can format them in some new and exciting way. Yeah, I know. Delusional!

This is great! I really enjoyed the unusual format, and Rodney was wonderfully recognizable. (It seems kind of consdescending to say he's wonderfully in-character!) I also loved John's reaction; it seems very much how he would react, quietly adapting his response plans as the situation changes and all the while maintaining the same, familiar facade.

That's exactly how I see John too! Thank you so much for letting me know you enjoyed the story; that makes me happy.

This is fantastic, I enjoyed it so much. Poor Rodney, I felt so sad for him when he realised he'd been inside the VR and I loved John's reactions to everything.

Oh, thank you. I was a bit worried readers wouldn't go along with the trick I played with the VR, so it's a relief to know it worked for you so well.
