You are completely and utterly insane and I love it. The style is perfect. The dialogue completely in tone with the incredibly odd idea. I'll never look at the Princess Bride the same way again. Luckily, my giggles will be easily disguised as amusement at the film.

Thank you! I adore The Princess Bride--both the novel and the film. The novel is written in the most breth-taking style. I wish I was even half as good as Goldman is in that novel! But I'm really glad you enjoyed my homage. It made me snicker while I was writing it.

I've never read the novel, I'm ashamed to say. But I adore the film.

They're very similar, as Goldman wrote the screenplay, but the book is *even better*! The mastery with which he writes the comedy and the action... it has to be read to be believed!

Best swordfight ever! With the most satisfactory ending ever! I've watched The Princess Bride, but never read the book. *adds to mile-long to-read list.

Thank you! I love a good swordfight. I'm amazed it isn't done more often in fanfic :)

Also, the book is so worth it! It's much snarkier than the film, because it has this occaisonally bitter narrator who lets all his warts show. You're going to love it.

Ha!!! When you consider that Matt & Ben showed Goldman "Good Will Hunting" for dialogue pointers, that makes this fic even more satisfying.

Yay for the Dreaded Royal Dinner With The In-Laws-To-Be. And the swordfight!!!! *grins*

Thank you! I'd forgotten that about Goldman, but you're so right. And Ben has obviously read "Adventures in the Screen Trade" too, because he called his Premier article "Adventures in the Celebrity Trade".

Hey there, darlin'. I suck, because you posted this for me a million years ago, and I never said thank you. I loved it, though, and have read it so many times that I sort of forgot that I never commented on it. It's always amazing to me that you can take these two, throw them in an entirely different time and place (with horses, even! Matt's intensity, Ben's showmanship, and the dynamic they have between them all come out beautifully.

*big hugs*

Guh. I seem to have lost coherence there. Let's try that again:

It's always amazing to me that you can take these two, throw them in an entirely different time and place (with horses, even!) and yet they are exactly as they should be. Matt's intensity, Ben's showmanship, and the dynamic they have between them all come out beautifully.

Righto. Possibly time to step away from the computer.

I'm so glad you liked this one, love. I have to admit, it's one of my favourites too. There's something about the swords...

Thank you!
