Mystery Fandom Poll

Have you ever absorbed a movie/tv show/book etc and gone, "Oh my god! I *must* read fanfic set in this universe immediately!" only to find when you do an internet search that there is no such fandom?

I certainly have (can anyone say Van Helsing or Britney/Madonna?), and because I'm a nosey parker, I want to know more...

I ended up finding a comm with a grand total of two posts in it. I wrote my fic, got it out of my system, and haven't actually been back there since. Oh well.

I actually tend to do things backwards most of the time in that I'll stumble across a piece of fic by an author I like in a fandom I don't know and *that* will make me search out the source material ::coughstargateatlantiscough::

My whole life is spent looking for fandoms that no one writes. I think this is because of my tendency to focus on the background characters rather than the central ones.

So, for instance, there is no Alec/Joshua stuff for *Dark Angel*. It's a terrible fandom anyway as even the Max/Logan fic is appalling but can I really be the only person to see how Joshua and Alec have this lovely friendship developing in the background?

I've gone looking for *Jeremiah* fic. There isn't much and what little there is appears to be Kurdy/Jeremiah while I have, of course, fallen for Kurdy/Smith. Who, who could resist the sweetness of Smith's dear face?

Ditto, I have this specific fondness for the Lone Gunmen as a trio. But there's almost nothing.

And, strangely, relatively little Gimli/Legolas.

I feel your pain with regards to Gimli/Legolas. I just don't understand it, as their love is so beautiful in the books. In fact, I'd be happy to read L/G friendship fic, with no sex, just wonderful adventures.

I haven't yet gone looking for Jeremiah fic, but probably will at some point, although I have to say, as I watched most of season 1, before Smith turned up, I too see the J/K love. :)

Gimli and Legolas have that wonderful, prejudice-busting friendship. They are so fab - though it's not apparent in the movies.

I started *Jeremiah* in second season so have gone for the big Smith love.

I think the special FX in the LotR films is what killed the L/G vibe--it was too hard for the actors to emote when they were never physically together. :(

Oh hey, you guys talked about Jeremiah. Know anywhere I can get season 2 since it's not on DVD?

Um, Season Two is available in a downloadable form from Amazon but only if you are an American who uses an IBM. So that's me out on both counts.
